Jason Kucsma is the Emerging Technologies Manager at the Metropolitan New York Library Council where he manages METRO’s Digitization Grant Program and is the point person for member inquiries related to the resources, training and referral services associated with digitization, digital preservation and emerging technologies issues. Jason is the Student Representative on the National Advisory Board for the Digital Information Management Program (DigIn) at the University of Arizona. He is also a member of ALA’s 2009 Emerging Leaders Program and was honored by the Faculty at UofA as an “Outstanding Student” in his graduating class.
Jason’s interest in libraries was piqued as a master’s student in the American Culture Studies Program at Bowling Green State University, where he had the opportunity to work in the Popular Culture Library and the Music and Sound Recording Archives. While working on his MA, he also launched a nationally distributed, award-winning independent culture and politics magazine (clamor) and was the founding organizer of a national conference for independent media makers (Allied Media Conference). Jason received his B.A. in Interpersonal Communication and his M.A. in American Culture Studies from Bowling Green State University and an M.L.S. from the University of Arizona School of Information Resources and Library Science. He is currently working part-time on a certificate in Digital Information Management and will be a Part-Time Lecturer in the Spring 2009 at Rutgers Library and Information Science Department.
